Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb
Mohamed Abdel-Mottaleb, Ph.D. is one of the leading figures facilitating the introduction of nanotech to the Middle East. He is CEO and Founder of SabryCorp Ltd. (Cairo, Egypt), the first company in the Middle East and Africa to specialize in nanotechnology. Further, he has organized and chaired the first nanotech conference in the Middle East (NanoTech Insight, in 2005, 2007), and is currently organizing a host of other industry-specific nanotech events and workshops in the region.
Prior to moving to Egypt, Dr. Abdel-Mottaleb worked in research labs both Belgium (K.U. Leuven) and in Germany (U. Ulm, TU Chemnitz) where he specialized in using STM to study dynamic molecular phenomenon at the liquid-solid interface. In addition to his work on STM, Dr. Abdel-Mottaleb also worked on constructing molecular nano-wires as well as investigated the blinking phenomenon of quantum dots. He has 24 peer-reviewed publications (including papers in Accounts of Chemical Research and Nano Letters) and has recently co-authored a chapter for NATO on the commercial applications of nanotechnology.
Mostafa Analoui
Mostafa Analoui, Ph.D., is Head of Healthcare and Life Science at The Livingston Group (New York, NY) and Senior Vice President of Business Development at Charlesson Pharmaceuticals. Previously he was the Senior Director at Pfizer Global Research and Development in Connecticut. He is also adjunct Professor of Radiology and Oral Pathology, Medicine at Indiana University Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Analoui is actively involved in investment, management and scientific/business development of nanotechnology, drug discovery/development, diagnostic imaging, and global strategies.
Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. Analoui was the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging Research at Indiana University, and Associate professor of Biomedical Engineering and Electrical & Comp Engineering at Purdue University. He was also President and CEO of Therametric Technology Inc. In addition to industry leadership in biomedical and technology fields, he lectures and consults nationally and internationally. He has also served on various scientific, regulatory, and business advisory committees and boards. Dr. Analoui has authored over 130 publications, including journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports.
Tamer El-Raghy
Dr. El-Raghy has over 15 years of experience in innovation, technology transfer and commercialization as well as product and business development in the area of advanced materials in USA and Europe. As the President and co-founder of 3-ONE-2 LLC, USA, Dr. El-Raghy successfully formed a joint venture with Kanthal AB, Sweden (A subsidiary of Sandvik AB) to develop and commercialize his inventions. His collaboration with Kanthal has led to the successful commercialization of the technology. He was instrumental in forming several strategic partnerships with world-leading firms (some of them are Fortune 500) in the areas of metals, advanced materials, healthcare and consumer products. He has vast experience in writing and evaluating business plans, conducting due diligence as well as start-ups valuation and project finance. He holds 7 issued patents and has over 60 archival publications in leading journals including Nature, Science and American Scientist. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia and his MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Peter Hatto
Dr Peter Hatto has been chairman of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee for Nanotechnologies, ISO/TC 229, since it was established in June 2005, and has recently been appointed chairman of the equivalent European (CEN) Technical Committee, TC 352. He is also chairman of the UK BSI committee in the area, NTI/1, a position which he has held since its inception over four years ago.
Peter’s is Director of Research for IonBond Ltd, a leading producer of advanced, thin film, ceramic coatings. His research activities have covered subjects ranging from erosion protection for aircraft engines to enhanced osseo-integration of dental and orthopaedic implants, including two major nanotechnology projects – one on the preparation and characterization of nanostructured multilayer coatings and the other, currently ongoing, on the development and use of nanocomposite coatings for the control of friction and wear in engineering components. His long association with this area of technology led to his appointment in the late 90’s as convenor of working groups for standardization in the field of ceramic coatings in both ISO and CEN, position which he still holds.
